For the ninth year, Kansas City will be "in the pink" this October, as The University of Kansas Cancer Center enhances its Pink Fountains campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Kansas City Cancer Center hosted the campaign in its first seven years. In June 2011, KCCC partnered with The University of Kansas Cancer Center to take on cancer in the Kansas City region and beyond. The University of Kansas Cancer Center is honored to continue the Pink Fountains campaign in support of Breast Cancer awareness.
The University of Kansas Cancer Center will dye a dozen fountains in 2012. It's a tradition that began several years ago as a creative way to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. Since then, the Pink Fountains campaign has grown beyond Kansas City to Lee's Summit, Lenexa,Olathe, Overland Park and the Northland.
The striking appearance of the pink fountains is a reminder of the lives lost to breast cancer, a celebration of the lives spared through awareness and quality cancer care, and a signal to continue the research necessary to tackle the disease.
